Running Rampant

The world spill out of my mouth

There is nothing I want more than to

Words I can never take back stain the ground I tread so carefully on

Eternally reminding me of what I cannot undo

Perhaps I shouldn’t

The crooked bridge that was built

Slowly falls apart

Under the weight of a thousand anchors

It holds steady for a minute

And then it doesn’t

It does not want to

I hate to see it fall after it’s brief existence

Burned down by my own matches

But I no longer care

So I watch it topple to the ground

As a dull ache resonates within me

I am slave to its raging screams

There is nothing I can do
